We had quite a few apples from our produce box, so we needed to use some up quickly. We decided to make some sautéed apples for dessert. You could easily reduce the butter and sugar in this recipe to make it a bit healthier. The apples would be good on pancakes or waffles for breakfast, or even on vanilla yogurt. Since this was a dessert, we served ours over vanilla ice cream.
5 tablespoons butter
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
4-6 apples, peeled, cored, sliced
- 1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; stir sugar and cinnamon into the hot butter. Add apples and cook until apples begin to break down, 10-15 minutes.
Vivian: This was a good dessert. They were easy and pretty fast to make.
Charlotte: Especially good with ice cream. The syrup is super yummy.
Can you think of something else to do with lots of apples?
